The heavy duty steel alloy rod provides a very hard edge designed to realign the edge on a knife to properly maintain the knife's sharpness. The 12-inch length is long enough to hone most all knives while the black poly handle features a finger guard and a hanging loop for superior comfort and use. To hone your knife, slide the knife blade across the steel at a 20° angle alternating between left and right sides - on a microscopic level, the knife blade will straighten while small particles removed will stick to the magnetic rod.
